    Édouard Vuillard, in full Jean-Édouard Vuillard, (born Novem , Cuiseaux, France—died J , La Baule), French painter, printmaker, and decorator who was a member of the Nabis group of painters in the s. He is particularly known for his depictions of intimate interior scenes.. Vuillard studied art from to at the Académie Julian and the École des Beaux-Arts. Vuillard, who was involved in experimental theater, was well known for producing large-scale works and murals. Some of his most famous works were made early in his career during his involvement with Les Nabis (named after the Hebrew and Arabic term for “prophets”), an avant-garde group deeply influenced by the work of Paul ality: French.
